Use of fungal cultures in making dairy products

Fresh and aged cheeses, yogurt and kefir are some of the dairy delicacies made with a little help from bacteria and fungi.  Jessie Dowling, Fuzzy Udder Creamery owner/cheesemaker will discuss these tiny helpers and their role in making an array of goat and sheep milk products.

Mother’s Day Art Party Saturday, May 13, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Join us for a fun night for mom’s and kiddos with local artist Stacey Rice. Stacey will walk you through a step by step 11×14 “Daisies and Friends” acrylic painting! All the materials are included, just bring your creativity. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase during the event. No experience is required. Don’t forget to bring a little cash to enter the raffle for a paint kit and a Sheepscot General dessert! A total of 24 seats are available. Tuesdays: Community Meditation 7pm Drop-in Meditation is becoming more popular in our culture. It can be used as a tool for stress relief, anxiety, depression or just a way to get a break from the overwhelming technology in our lives. There are many ways to learn meditation. One way is in a group, some find that group mediation is an easier way to learn than on your own. A weekly community meditation group has started at Sheepscot General Store in Whitefield. It meets every Tuesday 7pm-8:30pm and is open to everyone. Donations are appreciated but not required. For more information please call 207-549-5185.


Wednesdays: Yoga 6:30pm Drop-in (Starting Jan. 18th, 2017)
Yin Yoga focuses on stretching and strengthening the joints and connective tissues within the body, through holding seated and reclined postures for 3-5 minutes. Yin complements the dynamic, muscular (yang) styles of yoga and other forms of exercise that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin is suitable for all levels of physical fitness and those recovering from injuries. Thursdays: Dance Class 5:30pm (Starting Jan. 19th, 2017)
This is a commnuity dance class. We will awaken range of motion in our joints, explore spatial dimension, and our collective creativity through choreography. This is an 8-week session.
