What can you do with fresh hemp?

Juice- Turn your fresh hemp into juice for a great health tonic. You can juice fresh hemp leaves and buds. Start with a few leaves or a small bud and experiment with what amount is right for you. The taste will be bitter, so mix with other vegetables or fruits. Avoid using acidic components like citrus fruits of juices. Carrot juice is a popular choice.

Smoothies- Add your fresh hemp to your favorite smoothie recipe. Juice your hemp bud or leaves and freeze into ice cubes. Add cubes to smoothies. Adding a fat source (coconut oil, yogurt...) to your smoothie will help with CBD absorption.

Cure your own

You can even dry and cure your own hemp bud at home. You will need wire and hangers, cardboard boxes and a clean low humidity environment. Dry your hemp buds by hanging them upside down until they are dry to the touch (7-10 days approximately). Trim the outer leaves from the bud. Place in air tight containers to cure. Open the boxes a few times a day to 'burp' and keep moisture from building. Cure for at least 3 weeks.

Decarbing- Decarboxylating, or 'decarbing', simply means heating your dried hemp to maximize the effect of its CBD and THC. Hrmp must be dried first, before decarbing. To decarb your dried hemp, heat your oven to 245 degrees and place your hemp on an oven safe tray. 'Bake' in the oven for 40 minutes, shaking the tray occasionally to circulate heat.

What can you do with dried hemp?

Tea- Make a relaxing tea with your dried flower, you can decarb it first. Grind it with a mortar and pestle to get maximum benefits. Let it steep for 2-5 minutes then stain. Brew hemp tea on its own, or add to a tea of your choice.

Cannabis Butter- Make a yummy addition to all kinds of snacks and meals with hemp butter. Grind 10 ounces (.35 grams) dried, decarbed flower with a mortar and pestle. Melt 1 cup of butter with one cup of water on the stove. Add your ground flower and simmer on low (don't boil) for 2-3 hours, then cool. Strain cooled butter through a cheesecloth over a funnel into a sterilized container. Use like butter in recipes.

Cannabis Coconut Oil- Use this versatile oil to add hemp to everything from recipes to homemade skincare. Combine 1 cup of ground bud with 1 cup of coconut oil in your slow cooker and heat on low for 4-6 hours, or in a saucepan on the stove on low heat for 3 hours. Stir occasionally. Strain and store in the fridge for up to two months.
