Community Circle Sing

The community singing circle will meet on Saturday, August 24th, at Sheepscot General Store, starting at 6:00 pm. Anyone who enjoys singing with others is welcome. Each person takes a turn requesting or offering a song, ideally one that everyone can join in singing. Acoustic instruments are welcome. Two wonderful songbooks, Rise Up Singing and Rise Again
(available online at https://www.riseupandsing.org/songbooks) provide a wide variety of potential selections. Anyone who has either of these books is urged to bring them. There are always extra copies of both books available to share.

Tomato Canning 101 Workshop


This class will walk participants through the basics of canning whole tomatoes, from blanching to remove skins, salt and acid parameters, and the water-bath canning method, as well as discussion of food safety and alternative tomato recipes such as soup, tomato paste, ketchup, and tomato sauce. Lead by University of Maine Master Food Preservers Susan Webbert and Ben Crockett. $10 per person

This is a monthly playgroup for new parents and their babies. This playgroup is primarily aimed at 0-3 years old (we expanded the age because our littles are growing so fast). Playgroup has been meeting on our back lawn in the sandbox. Going forward Playgroup will meet every third Wednesday.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga focuses on stretching and strengthening the connective tissues within the body, through holding seated and reclined postures for three to five minutes. Ideal for all levels and those recovering from injuries.$10 drop-in . This class will be taught by our substitute teacher Kathryn Jensen. Class will be on hiatus the remainder of August. Please bring pillows, blankets, and a yoga mat if you have your own. There are extras available for use at the store.

Sheepscot General Store and Farm will host Dr. Dustin Sulak at 98 Townhouse Road in Whitefield, Maine on Friday, August 2nd from 7-8pm for a free presentation on CBD (Cannabidiol). There will be a walking farm tour at 6pm to view the hemp crop behind the store. Manda Hard is Whitefield resident whose painting are inspired by women all around the world and all walks of life. From young to old, from weak to bold, color , gender, race, orientation, lifestyles and of all strengths! All women are her inspiration! This is the inspiration that led her to start her “Girl Series”. She started creating paintings of abstract women, for women to have a chance to relate and admire, giving them a chance to escape through her paintings. This will be a unique and exciting art show.

Summer Outdoor Concert w/ Jenny Lou Drew & Cliff Gelina

We are very pleased to welcome our friend Jenny Lou Drew to the Sheepscot General summer concert stage. Jenny is a bluesy singer/song writer from Pittston who is due to release her sophomore album “Rockbiter” in August of 2019. Drew’s performance of the album title track in Studio Z with Brian Farrell aired December 19th on 98.9 WCLZ. The session and interview is available to stream in the Studio Z archives at www.989wclz.com/studio-z as well as on Soundcloud. Nashville recording artist & Maine native singer & songwriter. Cliff Gelina has spent 20 years playing music all around different parts of the Country. His music and his voice are full of heart and soul.
